Nutrition & Fitness

Students will be able to state the six functions of protein.
Students will work with a group to design a billboard advertising one of the six functions of protein.
Students will increase their cardiovascular endurance by walking 2.8 miles twice a week.

Monday: 2.8 mile walk
Tuesday: Gastric bypass video and discussion
Wednesday: Read 3 articles on gastric bypass and answer questions in packet, fat notes (on overhead)
Thursday: Heart disease--What is your risk?
Friday: 2.8 mile walk

Ed Careers

Students will listen to guest speakers in the career of education.
Studetns will compare and contrast the career of a vice principal to the career as a school nurse to in order to determine which one they would be most interested in.
Students will increase their understanding about the career of education by interning in an elementary classroom.

Monday: At elementary site

Wednesday: Jobs in education guest speakers (Mrs. Johnson--Vice Principal, Mrs. Tibbits--School Nurse)
Thursday: At elementary site

Teaching Academy

Students will reflect on the teaching techniques that Miss Toliver used in her classroom in order to make them more effective in their classrooms.
Students will evaluate a current event in school education and discuss its impact on future teachers.

Students will evaluate their personal classrooom management profile and then work with a group to design a handout that reflects one of the 11 classroom mangagement techniques (from Wong's book).

Monday: Watch "Good Morning Miss Toliver"
Tuesday: Reflection on the video--handwritten, one page
Wednesday: Ed in the News (Tiana, Jasmine, Allie)
Thursday: Classroom management profile, begin group project
Friday: In computer lab to create classroom management handouts

Week 11: 11/9-11/13

Nutrition & Fitness

Students will share their billboards with the class, stating the importance of the function of protein that their group selected.
Students will gain an understanding of the risk factors for heart disease and state several things that they can do to their life, to decrease their risk of developing it.
Students will increase their cardiovascular endurance by walking 2.8 miles twice a week.

Monday: 2.8 mile walk
Tuesday: Present protein billboards
Wednesday: NO SCHOOL--Veteran's day
Thursday: Read the articles "Chewing the Fat" and "Breaking the Heart" and complete the corresponding worksheets (found in your packets)
Friday: 2.8 mile walk

Ed Careers

Students will increase their understanding about the career of education by interning in an elementary classroom.

Monday: At elementary site
Tuesday: At elementary site (we are on an assembly schedule, so check in with me before going to the elementary schools)
Wednesday: NO SCHOOL--Veteran's Day
Thursday: At elementary site
Friday: At elementary site


Teaching Academy

Students will tour the school of education at CWU, meet professors and students , and hear from the admissions director in order to determine their level of interest in this school.
Students will state, in order, the steps to becoming a teacher in the state of Washington.

Monday: Field trip to CWU!!!
Tuesday: Field trip debrief (write reflection for homework), complete all 3 PMI charts as a group!
Wednesday: NO SCHOOL--Veteran's Day
Thursday: Steps to becoming a teacher
Friday: Finish steps to becoming a teacher (turn in visual representation on Monday)

Week 10: 11/2-11/6

Studetns will compare and contrast the career of a school librarian with the other careers they have learned about in order to determine which one they would be most interested in. 
Students will increase their understanding about the career of education by interning in an elementary classroom.

Teaching Academy

Students will use Bloom's taxonomy to create meaningful and clear objectives for their lesson plans.
Students will be compare and contrast the three different teaching techniques, stating the positives and negatives of each of them.
Students will use effective questioning techniques when teaching their future lessons.
